On Sept. 30, 2009 the Ontario Power Authority announced its intention to build a 900 megawatt (MW) electricity generating station in Oakville and our goal to stop the Power Plant began. It’s been a year  of many actions & initiatives undertaken to send a clear message to the Government of Ontario: this site will cause unnecessary & unprecedented health and safety risks to an already over-polluted air shed.

Below are some of the major accomplishments or related events.

  • C4CA was established & organized  within 2 weeks of the decision with 8 different committees formed

  • C4CA presented at the OMB hearing on the legality of Oakville’s Interim control Bylaw and at a Special Town Council Meeting

  • Doug Mackenzie (C4CA) joined the Min Of Environment’s SWGTA Air Quality Task Force, a Community Advisory Committee lead by Dr. David Balsillie.

  • An open letter 2-page AD in Oakville Beaver  announcing the formation of C4CA,  the concerns that C4CA has with the building of the Oakville Generating Station, and Ford’s role in the transaction and our request to Ford for funding for an IEA
