Today, Doug MacKenzie will announce his intention to run for Oakville Council. C4CA Chairman Frank Clegg will assume Doug’s responsibilities.

Since the fall of 2009, Doug has served Citizens for Clean Air as President with dedication and tenacity. On behalf of the thousands of citizens who have joined C4CA to fight for clean air and the safe and sensible location of a power plant proposed for our community, we wish Doug well in his new endeavour.

In the August 19th edition of the Oakville Beaver, the Power Workers' Union sponsored a full page ad which stressed their support for the Nanticoke option of conversion to natural gas and biomass, instead of the OGS.

C4CA will be continuing our awareness campaign and membership drive at the Oakville Place mall on Sunday, August 15th (11 am-5 pm). Please stop by the C4CA kiosk, at the foot of the escalators. We believe strongly that building a gas fired power plant of this size, on such a small parcel of land, without adequate buffer zones exposes the community of Oakville, your facilities and your employees to significant health and safety risks. Our purpose in writing is to share our concerns with you and to seek your input and cooperation in working with us to resolve these issues."
