Statement from the Office of Kevin Flynn MPP:

What’s happening?
The proposed Oakville power plant will not be built.
Things have changed since 2006, when the Oakville gas plant was first proposed.
We’ve brought on 8,000 megawatts of new, cleaner power, and successful conservation efforts have reduced the need for more supply.
At the same time, we’re shutting down dirty, smog-producing, coal-fired generation.  In fact, our government permanently closed four more units of dirty, smog-producing, coal-fired generation on October 1, 2010, four years ahead of schedule.
And we’ll continue to invest in transmission to meet the future needs of our homes, hospitals, schools and businesses.
